Hospitality... Without The Fossil Fuels!

It’s hard to go green... or at least it feels like it must be difficult. A few years ago going green meant spending a lot of green on a relatively small, sometimes untested market. But as Green Lodging points out, the times have changed not only on the retail side of things but in the HORECA industry as well.

Stonewall Inn is the perfect example of blending in with your surroundings while being entirely self-sufficient. With Stonewall’s design and geographic positioning, it harnesses the heat from the sun to maintain the majority of its warmth. It also helps to be located in a rainy state like Vermont, which allows the Inn to get all its water from a practically over flowing well.

What we like the most about articles like these is that it shows just how practical going green can be. Having a completely off the grid hotel may seem like a daunting and confusing task; especially with the people at Stonewall certainly taking on the more extreme end of “eco-friendly.” But when you read about their methods you realize it’s actually pretty simple, and that little changes to your every day operations probably would go unnoticed to everyone but the environment.

Some of our exhibitors have featured green products and services to offer, see them at this year's The Hotel Experience, November 12-13. To register to attend, visit our website here: www.thehotelexperience.com
