Hotels Find New Ways to Reduce Food Waste

According to Hotel News Now, the AH&LA, WWF and Rockefeller Foundation are currently working on a program designed to reduce food waste in hotels. Such an initiative has sparked inspiration as hotels around the world are finding new ways to reduce waste and promote more sustainable food management. For example, the Sheraton in New York Times Square has recently installed a composting program in the employee cafeteria, educating employees on the proper way to dispose of waste in stages: food waste, trash, and recyclables. Others are drying organic materials to be used for feedstock or easier disposal.
