Acoustic Design Something to Consider for a Noisy Lobby

Poor acoustic design in hotel lobbies can create a noisy and distracting environment, deterring guests from lingering. Lodging Magazine points out that this can be an issue for hotels that use the lobby for multiple purposes, such as socializing, dining, relaxing, and check-in. Some restaurants and hotel lobbies have have sound that reaches 70 to 80 decibels, which Lodging Magazine says is nearly as loud as a leaf blower.

Solutions exist to mitigate the noise within your lobby, such as sound masking and sound absorbing. If a renovation is in your hotel's near future, bring in an acoustics consultant or mention lobby acoustics to your designer!
