Keeping Up with the Latest Technology by Increasing Bandwidth

According to Lodging Magazine, internet bandwidth never used to be an issue for those in hospitality, but within the last 10 years, use of technology while traveling has exploded. In the past, guests might bring along a laptop on a business trip, but today's guests don't leave the house without a mobile device, often bringing tablets or laptops on a journey as well.

The Sheraton Dallas Hotel has recently installed a new system that increases the bandwidth to 10 Gigabytes, 10 times that of their previous capacity. This recent installment was brought on by the inability to satisfy guests who wanted to use technology during their stay in the same fashion that they would at home. John Garland, IT Manager of the Sheraton Dallas Hotel stated that any hotel who cannot support the new technology is viewed as an inferior hotel by guests.
